David P. Gaus, M.B.A.
Strategy & AI tools for operations leaders. I share the frameworks that actually ship work.
22 years building operations and HR systems. Co-founded a compensation software company, scaled it to 13 states, positioned it for acquisition. Now I run HR Operations for a $2B academic health system where I've automated 20+ workforce reports and cut nurse staffing costs from $147 to $90/hour. I build the systems that let teams stop rebuilding from scratch.
Work History
Senior Director Human Resources
MU Health Care
MU Health Care is an academic health system — four hospitals, a School of Medicine, nearly $2B in annual revenue. I run HR Operations: talent acquisition, HR Technology, HRIS, Compensation, and Shared Services across the system. Five direct reports. Built a compensation system using Power Query that prices jobs against market automatically. Automated 20+ Power BI workforce reports and cut the reporting team from 3.5 to 1. Launched an HR Shared Services Center that consolidated every employee HR need into one resource. Designed a Tiger Flex program that dropped the hourly cost of nurses from $147 to $90.
Director Compensation, HRIS, Projects
University of Toledo
Three direct reports covering compensation, HRIS, and shared services. Built a 9-step equity calculator to close pay gaps department by department. Created the first 5-year compensation projection tool. Built the CHRO's first live compensation dashboard — real-time KPIs that fed directly into labor negotiations. Launched Cornerstone on Demand for talent acquisition, digitized onboarding, and reduced TA headcount with zero productivity loss.
CEO and Co-Founder
CompPro Software
Co-founded a compensation software company. Built it to 13 staff, 100+ client integrations across 13 states, and contracts up to $400K. The software calculated billions of dollars in compensation for SME and enterprise clients while keeping them compliant with FLSA, EEO, and state labor laws. Positioned the company for acquisition.
